A 53-year-old Afghan man who stayed in the camp in Malakasa, in the Eastern Attica region of Greece, was hospitalized after a positive corona virus. People started to test. While the health officials were trying to find the source that brought the virus, the camp was quarantined.
20 CASE DETERMINED AT THE MIGRANT CAMP
The Ministry of Migration announced that Malakasa, 40 km northeast of Athens, will remain in quarantine for two weeks, and that the restrictions will be implemented by the police. On Thursday, the Ritsona camp in the central region of Greece was quarantined after 20 positive cases were detected.

Following the rapid rise of the Corana virus pandemic, the first camp declared quarantine in Greece was Ritsona. More than 110 thousand people are being held in immigrant camps in Greece. 40 thousand of them are in overcrowded camps on the islands in the Aegean.

Minister of Immigration Notis Mitaraçi said, “There are too many immigrants and asylum seekers. Therefore, mathematically confirmed cases are inevitable. We are implementing an emergency plan, but we are having trouble realizing it on the islands. ”
Aid organizations are calling for the evacuation of migrants from the camps on the islands in case the virus spreads rapidly due to overcrowding and hygiene shortage.
