The corona virus, which emerged in Wuhan, China, spread rapidly, causing the death of more than 74 thousand people worldwide. Due to the epidemic, countries took many precautions, flights were banned, large-scale events were canceled, and people were called to stay at home to maintain social distance.
In this context, people who want to take their own precautions, apply to many ways from masks and gloves to disinfectants. However, the mask is one of the most controversial issues.
DO NOT TOUCH THE MASK
A striking research on masks has also been done in Hong Kong. Malik Peiris from Honk Kong University made warnings about how long the virus lived on the mask.
Peiris pointed out that the virus, which touches the easiest and most widely used surgical mask, can remain alive for 4-7 days. “When you touch the mask and then your eyes, you get the virus in this way.”
Peiris reiterated that the most important method of protection, regardless of the mask, gloves or disinfectant, is hand washing.
WHO CREATED CONFLICT
The World Health Organization (WHO) also made conflicting statements about masks. Pointing out the importance of the use of masks first, WHO then said that they should not wear non-patients, and immediately emphasized the benefits of using masks by impeller.
