However, the records cover all deaths in Istanbul. There is no separate data on those who lost their lives due to the Corona virus (Covid 19). Because “Covid-19” information is not included in the death reports from hospitals.
According to the data of the Presidency; A total of 12 thousand 745 people died in Istanbul in March and April last year, and a total of 16 thousand 345 people died in March and April of 2020. In other words, there were 3,600 more deaths in the same period this year.

In March 2019, 6 thousand 630 people died in Istanbul. By March 2020, this figure was 7 thousand 281. The difference was only recorded as 651.
While 6 thousand 115 people died in April 2019, the number of people increased to 9 thousand 64 this year. In other words, the number of people who lost their lives in 2020 increased by 2,949 people.
Looking at the daily death numbers, 399 people died on April 20, when the most deaths occurred in April. The number of people who died on the same day the previous year was 203.
