Turkey, as a bridge between the West due to the presence in the country is being used as a transit route by irregular immigrants. Van, which has a long border to Iran, is among the important crossroads. In the region, where difficult and mountainous areas are dominant, illegal immigrants are sometimes let down by immigrant smugglers, and sometimes they die due to cold weather conditions.
The bodies of illegal burials who freeze and die are sometimes revealed by melting of snow. Thousands of illegal immigrants are caught every year with the work done by the gendarmerie and police teams and the intensive security measures taken. Despite all the measures taken, thousands of illegal immigrants and immigrant smugglers are caught every year in Van, which has the longest border line to Iran.
FIRST 3 MONTHS INCREASED
In Van, 23 thousand 804 irregular migrants and 537 organizers were caught in 2018, and 40 thousand 193 irregular migrants were caught in 2019.
The increase in 2019 data on illegal immigrants, which is growing every year, also attracted attention. The forecasts of scientists were that the number of irregular immigrants in 2020 would seek, and in the first 3 months of the year that mobility increased noticeably despite heavy snowfall.
Until March, the transition of irregular migrants was 2 thousand 500 in the first 3 months of 2019, and this year was 2 thousand 800 in the first 3 months. Van Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez said that there was a very serious immigration movement in Van especially last year.
Explaining that they are dealing with 90 thousand illegal immigrants in Van throughout the year, Governor Bilmez said that most of this is prevented at the border, and about 50 percent are caught in the inner regions.
SHARP FALL IN APRIL
Noting that there is a lot of immigrant mobility in the first 3 months of this year, Governor Bilmez said that the number of illegal immigrants dropped to 200 in April this year. Governor Bilmez said:
* There has been a serious increase in immigration mobility since 2014-2015 due to developments in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This increase continues every year. But it has dropped to its lowest level in history since April.
* We consider that pandemic has a significant role as well as the effects of the measures taken here. While the number of immigrants caught in the inner regions in the first 3 months last year was around 2,500, this year it was caught around 2 thousand 800.
* But when we get to April, this rate fell suddenly. While there were 2,500 immigrants we caught in April last year, this number dropped to 200 this year. In other words, we have seen a serious decrease in immigration mobility since April.
NUMBER UNDER 50 IN THE CENTER
Explaining that serious measures were taken at the borders, Governor Bilmez said:
* Military units are patrolling on a 24-hour basis, and even gendarmerie, police, commando and special operations teams and village guards patrol outside the military zone. Our citizen has also minimized her contact with immigrants since April.
* We can easily say that people who smuggle people are also getting away from this job. Therefore, while there are nearly a thousand people staying at our removal center at other times, the number of people staying now is below 50.
WARNING TO CITIZENS
This process is connected to the Police Department and all immigrants captured in Turkey in the first 14 days in Van Valin not know the words that describe kept under observation made in the front reception center, a center concluded:
* We undergo the screening of irregular migrants who have been captured. We have had suspicious cases among them, but so far we have not had any positive cases from immigrants. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Therefore, our citizens should stay away from immigrants. Because they travel around the region and we know that these cases are common in Iran.
* As soon as cases related to pandemic are detected in Iran, we coordinated with all our institutions in Van and we took our high level measures. We trained the military and the police, who could deal with immigrants. We have taken very serious measures. (DHA)
