Turkey : Expert decision to shed light on caliper cases from AYM

The Constitutional Court (AYM) discussed the case for the appointment of an individual who is not on the courthouse’s expert list by the court. He rejected the court’s appeal. The court did not find it appropriate to appoint an expert from the list by the Expertise Regional Board, although there are experts on the list and experts in the field. It was emphasized that the expert committees prepared a list among the people who met the necessary conditions such as their expertise and scientific competence, and said, “In this way, a certain standard and harmony is ensured in terms of the selection of experts and the formation of expert lists.”

He was also appointed as a controversial name expert in the perception case against SÖZCÜ Newspaper. Although there are other registered and specialized names, he was chosen off-list and appointed as an expert. The court rejected objections made by SÖZCÜ lawyers on this matter.
