Jackson County Park marina burned down in Scottsboro, Alabama, USA. At least 8 people died as a result of the fire, while 6 people were injured.
Dozens of boats were burned and buried. While some people who jumped into the water to get rid of the fire were rescued, the divers were called to rescue people likely to be in the water.
“A large number of people jumped into the water and were rescued,” said Jackson County deputy chief Rocky Harnen. Harnen also pointed out that it is extremely difficult to search for victims.

He added that he was afraid that there might be people in the sinking boats as the roof debris fell on the boats.
Scottsboro Fire Chief Gene Necklaus also announced that the pier with a walking path, boat ramps and fishing and swimming docks on the Tennessee River is completely burned.
He said the fire came out of an electrical contact on the shore. He stated that as the harbor started to burn, some boats sank right there, while others were buried in the open water. He reported that the flames devastated at least 35 boats. IHA
