Turkey : Giant clubs at the sales desk – Economic news

Football accounted for the most important agenda of the citizens in Turkey after politics. Because of this feature of football, various power focuses from past to present want to open channels that will take their place in football. We can see them clearly in the clubs’ presidential election.
For this reason, we cannot look at football as “football only”…

Currently, the most important problem of football is the debts it cannot convert. It is a matter that everybody has come to the point of bankruptcy of many clubs… It is not possible for sports clubs managed as a company to say “It went bankrupt and closed shutters” like a typical industrial establishment. As such, these irreversible debts seem to be the new infiltration of football to power focus. These debts will now radically change centuries-old Turkish football.

Beşiktaş President Ahmet Nur Çebi said that it was difficult for him not to cry because of the debts, saying that “We have no money to pay the electricity bill” and explained that the banks seized all the revenues of the club.

The Banks Association of Turkey, Turkey Football Federation together with the clubs were unable to convert their debt into action to configure. Speaking for the criticisms coming to this application, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated that the clubs can be sold if necessary, by saying “The application put forward by the banks is obvious, it seizes all the assets of a company”.

Now, the whole environment is ready for the sale of the clubs that cannot even convert their invoices. The subject discussed in business backstage is on the future of investors from football clubs from China, Russia or the Gulf countries.

THE UNLIMITED COMPETITION IS SEARCHING THE DOOR TO BANKRUPTCY

In debt restructuring, there are Trabzonspor, which shines financially in 4 big teams on one side, and on the other, there are teams that cannot even pay the electricity debt like Beşiktaş.

Turkey Football Federation and Turkey Banks Union was supposed to rise to his level of cooperation with the club. But at the point reached, it was seen that this practice was not useful for many clubs. The most important reason for this is that the state is not equidistant from all of them while saving the clubs. Trabzonspor President Ahmet Ağaoğlu announced that 50 million Euro debts were closed with the support of President Erdoğan. How this debt is closed is still unknown. Among the claims that this money was given from the disguised appropriation… The conditions under which the Union of Banks structured the debts are not disclosed to the public. Club companies open to exchange must normally explain these to their investors, but they do not.

The supports given during the stadium construction, the open statements of the Ministers increase the criticism of Trabzonspor in the business and football world.

While it is clearly stated that the state creates unfair competition between the clubs, it is stated that the Federation and the Banks Association play an important role here.
