Glaucoma disease is an insidious disease, it is a difficult disease because it gradually loses sight and it is irreversible to treat. The most important event here is early recognition and early treatment. Therefore, our patients need to have their controls checked regularly. It is celebrated as a week of glaucoma every year, as this insidious disease can attract attention. This year, Glaucoma Week will be celebrated between 8-14 March. This week, he organized a bicycle tour in Konya with Selcuk University Rectorate and Governorship to draw attention to the disease and create awareness. ”
Turkey 2, 5 million glaucoma patients Ocakoğlu stated that, “In our country there are around 2.5 million glaucoma patients. However, we can reach one fourth of these patients. We haven’t met three quarters yet, we can’t cure it. As long as we encounter more of these and we want to detect the disease as soon as possible and start treatment. Generally, the disease is known as an elderly patient, but; this is not quite true. Even babies have a special type of glaucoma, which we call congenital glaucoma. For this reason, while looking at the eye examination of each patient, both in children and young and adults, we look at the eye pressure and carry out detailed treatments. Generally, our patients apply to us after the age of 40 with close vision impairment. For this reason, perception occurred as if this disease was seen after this age. ” he spoke. DHA
