Turkey : Last minute! Refugee and immigration statement from the Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Hami Aksoy answered the question about Syrian migrants and asylum seekers heading towards the western borders.

Aksoy’s statement is as follows:

* Recent developments in Idlip and causing the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people have increased the current migration pressure on our country.

* These developments are followed by our people and the world public opinion, and affect the refugees and immigrants in our country deeply.

As a matter of fact, some asylum seekers and immigrants in our country, which are concerned about the developments, started to move towards our Western borders.

* If the situation worsens, this risk will continue increasingly. There is no change in our country’s policy towards refugees and asylum-seekers, which is hosting the most refugees in the world.
