Shopping centers (shopping malls) reopened their doors on Monday, May 11, but most of the stores within the shopping malls have not been opened yet.
Speaking to Sozcu.com.tr, the President of the Shopping Centers and Investors Association (AYD) Hüseyin Altaş and the President of the United Brands Association Sinan Öncel evaluated the picture that emerged with the reopening of the shopping malls.

Altas, 436 shopping centers across Turkey from 420’s (96 percent) currently is open, said the rest of the first to open in June.

On the other hand, BMD President Sinan Öncel said that the rate of the stores opened in the shopping malls was only 20 percent, a very limited number of shops were opened, and the number remained in the 20-30s in a shopping mall with 200 stores.
Stating that most of the stores expect the number of cases to decrease and normalization steps to be taken, Öncel stated that they plan to make a decision to index the turnover in the rents and close many shops if there is no displacement in the first months, and demand that they want convenience.
