IMPORTANCE OF THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

The month of Ramadan, where we send off 3 Months, is a month full of virtues. The month of Ramadan is the month of charity, the month of aid to the poor and the fallen, and the month of the Qur’an in all its moments. The resurrection feature of Ramadan is due to the fact that the Qur’an started to come down this month, which was sent to humanity to bring all humanity to guidance and happiness. It is also due to the fact that fasting worship, one of the fundamental principles of Islam, is fulfilled this month.

Fasting Statement from Diyanet

The High Council of Religious Affairs made a statement about who could not fast and who could not hold fasting on the month of Ramadan and fasting worship due to the Kovid-19 outbreak.

Due to the global epidemic of Kovid-19, the following issues were shared with our citizens regarding the fasting and the Ramadan High Council regarding the fasting and Ramadan:

According to the principles of our supreme religion, the time, place and conditions were determined by the revelation of each worship. The fasting of every healthy believer in Ramadan was assumed by Allah’s command (al-Baqara, 2 / 183-185). It is not possible to postpone this worship completely.

According to the information received from the field experts, healthy individuals fasting does not pose a special risk for the spread of the disease. In addition, there is no evidence-based medical finding that fasting negatively affects the immune system, while there are scientific publications that fasting has positive effects on the immune system.

Islam has made people accountable for their power in execution of orders and prohibitions, and made facilitating provisions in situations that exceed their power or cause distress. According to this general principle, some licenses have been granted for leaving the fasting of Ramadan, which is an obligatory accident, depending on certain conditions.

In case of illness, which is one of the main excuses that make it impossible to keep fasting of Ramadan in the Quran, fasting was allowed later in accident (al-Bakara 2/185). In this context, Islamic scholars have evaluated the possibility of becoming ill in case of fasting, prolonging or increasing the disease. According to this;

Kovid-19 diagnosed and those who consider fasting by their doctor
Doctors who stated that they would have the disease more seriously if fasting
Those who are too old to fast
Those with chronic diseases that prevent fasting
Health workers who are concerned about both their health deterioration and the disruption of health services in case of fasting
Pregnant or breastfeeding women
Those who are worried that their health will deteriorate by working in heavy and troublesome jobs may not fast for later accidents as long as their excuses continue. Those whose health conditions do not stop holding accident fasts in any way should pay the poor a ransom for each day they cannot.

In the fulfillment of religious duties, it is important for believers to make this decision and avoid arbitrary evaluations by consulting doctors with loyalty and sincerity without losing consciousness of servicing Allah. As long as the epidemic continues, it should be avoided to contact with others within the framework of social isolation rule and in this direction, it should definitely be avoided to organize iftar meals with relatives, neighbors and friends. It is a religious duty as a civil responsibility to ensure that our people follow the rules set by the officials responsible for protecting the public health, and avoid attitudes and behaviors that may endanger the lives of themselves and others.

Considering the new troubles that may arise during this difficult process we are experiencing, delivering our donations to our needy brothers and helping them will serve to keep our consciousness alive and share our Ramadan, which is the month of support.

In these days when we are sad of staying away from mosques, conducting our tarawih prayers, our chapters in our homes, directing our prayers and wishes together from our household to our Lord will benefit from the spirituality of the month of Ramadan.
The month of Ramadan, which we will grasp, is the means to our salvation as soon as possible; We ask Allah Almighty to bring goodness to our nation, to the Ummah-Muhammad and to all humanity.
