In recent years, district municipalities managed by AKP have started to sell the religious facility areas they have in hand when they could not find funds to pay their debts. After Sancaktepe, Üsküdar and Güngören, Esenler Municipality also participated in the mosque sales trend in Istanbul.
The land, where Güneştepe Mosque is located in the Kemer District, will be transferred to the Treasury of the Municipality of Esenler Municipality for approximately 33 million 341 thousand 8 lira.

AKP Group Vice President and Mayor of Esenler Mehmet Tevfik Göksu, who drew attention with his performance in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council, asked the district municipal council to convene an extraordinary meeting for the sale of an immovable property.
