WHAT IS REMDESIR?
Remdesivir is a new antiviral drug in the class of nucleotide analogs. It was developed by Gilead Sciences as a treatment for Ebola virus disease and Marburg virus infections. Laboratory tests show that remdesivir is effective against a wide range of viruses such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The drug was used in the 2013-2016 West African Ebola virus outbreak treatment. Although the drug turned out to be safe, it was not particularly effective against phyloviruses, such as the Ebola virus.
In response to the 2019-20 coronavirus outbreak caused by coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, Gilead provided remdesivir for “a small number of patients” in collaboration with Chinese medical officials to investigate their effects. Gilead also started lab tests against remdesivir against SARS-CoV-2. Gilead stated that remdesivir is “active” in animals against SARS and MERS.

According to the article in the New England Journal of Medicine, a 35-year-old man who became ill after the trip to Wuhan responded positively to treatment during the trial period.
The article suggested that the man who took the drug Remdesivir asd showed signs of improvement one day after the drug. The report also stated that there was no negative situation as a result of the trial.
