PRAYERS THAT CAN BE MADE AT IFTAR
“My God! I fasted to gain your consent, I opened my fast with the sake you gave. I believed and trusted you. O my Lord, whose grace and offerings are broad! Forgive me.”
“Allahumme stain sumtu and bike amentu and contruding aleyla or rizkuke eftertu”
(O Allah, I fasted for your sake. I believed in you. I trusted you. I open my fasts with your sake.)
When Hazrat Muhammad opened his fast in Ramadan, he always read this prayer. The iftar prayer that the Prophet read is as follows;
“Allahümme stain sumtu and alarikke eftartu.”
Meaning: O God, I fasted for your sake, and I am fasting with your sake.
Our Prophet said the following after opening his fast;
“Thirst is gone, veins are wet, insha’Allah, the reward has become definite.”
If one of the Islamic scholars, Abdullah ibn Ömer Radiyallâhu, prayed for iftar:
“God, forgive me for the right of your mercy that covers the entire universe, forgive my sins.”
