On the 28th anniversary of the grizu disaster in Zonguldak Kozlu on March 3, 1992, where 263 miners were martyred, the ‘defective law’ was brought to the agenda again.
With the law adopted in the Turkish Grand National Assembly in March 2018, it was decided to place one of the 417 families in public works, who lost their relatives in the mines between June 10, 2003 and May 13, 2014. However, the families of 800 miners who died before 2003 and after 2014 were not granted this right.
INJURY MUST BE REMOVED
CHP Zonguldak Deputy Deniz Yavuzyilmaz criticized the law that distinguishes between martyrs and said:
* On March 3, 1992, I, as a child of this region, experienced this disaster as a child who went to middle school. I grew up in this land with our 263 martyrs and my friends who lost their fathers. The law, which gives the right to employment in the public sector, includes the families of miners who died between 2003 and 2014.
* The family of our miner, who died before and after these dates, cannot benefit from this right. No discrimination can be made among our martyred miners. I submitted the law proposal I prepared in this regard to the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 2019. The ruling party did not put the proposal on the agenda, it is kept on the commission. Injustice must be eliminated.
