In the video shared by the Ministry of Health, after giving information about the materials necessary for making cloth masks at home and the process of making, warnings were given on how to wear the mask and how to clean it.
In the video underlined that the cloth mask used should be washed with detergent and water, the following recipes were made:
* Materials: cotton fabric, 2 pieces of inelastic 70 cm long and 1 cm wide fabric strip or two 25 cm long and 2mm wide soft rubber, needle, thread, safety pin or wire buckle, scissors, tape measure.
* Preparation: Cut two pieces of 24 cm wide, 18 cm long pieces of tightly woven cotton fabric. Put two pieces of fabric on top of each other. Fold the long edges 1 cm inward and sew.
* Fold the short edges 1.5 cm inward, sew it from the inside edge, leaving a gap through which the fabric strip or rubber will pass. Thread the fabric strip or rubber through the short edges of the mask using a safety pin or wire buckle.
‘ADJUST TO FIT ON YOUR FACE ‘
Stating that the mask should be adjusted to fit the face, the following expressions were used:
* If you have used a tire, firmly tie the ends of the tires you passed through the stitched section on the sides of the mask. Pull the knot into the stitched section.
* If you used fabric tape, do not tie the ends after passing through the stitched section. You will tie these strips behind your head while using the mask.
* After shrinking the short edges of the fabric strip or rubber through which you sew, prevent the fabric strip or tire from moving by sewing the entry and exit points of the mask. Adjust the mask to fit your face.
IN DO NOT USE AGAIN WITH WASH ‘
* Chin, mouth and nose should be completely inside the mask, there should be no gap between the face and the mask. Replace your moist or dirty mask, carry more than one mask with you.
* Always wash the cloth masks you use with water and detergent. Do not reuse the cloth mask you removed without washing it.
* The cloth mask should not be used in children under 2 years of age, those with breathing difficulties, those who are unconscious, and who have a disability to remove and wear the mask without help.
