Turkey : Bus burned on TEM Highway – News

The fire occurred in the direction of Ankara at the entrance of TEM Highway’s Bolu Mountain Tunnel at around 00.30. The 34 UNY 33 plate passenger buses under the direction of Yusuf Tanriverdi, carrying 31 people and the funeral going from Istanbul to Tokat for the funeral of the relatives, started to burn from the engine part for an unknown reason. A taxi driver from the back of the bus noticed the smoke and stopped in front of the bus. The taxi driver, whose name was not learned, warned the bus and asked them to get off. The bus driver and passengers tried to get out of the vehicle, but it was noticed that the doors of the bus were locked. 32 people were able to get out of the vehicle when a passenger on the bus broke the windows of the doors. The funeral in the coffin in the trunk of the bus was also removed from the vehicle by the passengers. The flames that started from the engine part of the bus surrounded the whole bus in a short time. While the firefighters who came to the scene after the notification intervened in the fire, transportation in the direction of Ankara stopped for a while. While the cooling work continued after the fire was extinguished, the traffic was provided in a controlled manner from a single lane. After the cooling work, the bus was removed from the road.

The passengers on the bus and the funeral were transferred to another passenger bus that went to Tokat for the same funeral. Citizens on the bus thanked the taxi driver for warning them early. IHA
