The European Parliament (EP) endorsed the sentence imposed on racist Greek deputy Ioannis Lagos who broke the Turkish flag at the General Assembly Session held in Strasbourg, France.
Opening the session, EP President David Sassoli announced the criminal decision taken by the AP on racist Greek deputy Lagos.
Sassoli said, “Ioannis Lagos had a negative impact on our General Assembly Meeting held on January 29, 2020. In that session, he tore off a paper he brought with him to symbolize a national flag. He exhibited a seriously flawed behavior. The person’s sentence is the deprivation of rights, which includes the suspension of 4-day parliamentary work, and the implementation of a 7-day financial deduction. ”
Stating that the decision came into effect on February 11, Sassoli noted that Lagos has the right to appeal the decision. (IHA)
