In the Balyun town of Idlib, Syria, Turkish soldiers were exposed to air strikes by regime forces the night before. As a result of the low attack of the Syrian army, 33 Mehmetçik were martyred and 32 soldiers were injured.
While this attack became the world’s number one agenda item, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement. Ministers Pompeo, “The United States has close relations with our Turkish allies and evaluate options to provide support for Turkey against this aggression,” he said.
Mike Pompeo argued that the United States “is trying to stop the Assad regime and Russia from displaying more brutality in Idlib and relieve the humanitarian crisis”.
SUPPORT MILITARY WILL NOT INCLUDE HAMLEY
In addition, a U.S. foreign official spoke to journalists before Pompeo announced this. “We are working on methods of helping Turks, but this will not involve the military moves of American units,” said an unnamed senior official.
“As a NATO ally and an important foreign military sales partner, we have various information sharing and equipment relations with the Turks,” the US State Department official said.
