The light commercial vehicle vito of the German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz, which first appeared in 1996, continues to make a name with its fourth generation today. Vito, with its third generation introduced in 2014, sold 530 thousand units.
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR DESIGN
The new vehicle does not have serious differences from the outside to the previous generation. However, the completely renewed front grille shows the difference of the vehicle. In the Vito versions, an all-chrome front grille is available as an option.
When you look inside the vehicle, the “Tunja” fabric, which was used before, was replaced by “Caluma” fabric, which offers a flexible structure and a stylish appearance. The new turbine-looking ventilation grilles, which bring a sporty appearance on the left and right ends of the dashboard, come into play. Glossy Piano Black center console, which is offered as part of the Chrome Package, can be purchased as an option.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION OPTIONS
With the renewal, all rear-wheel drive Mercedes-Benz Vito versions are available with an OM 654 coded four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, optimized for efficiency and emissions, made entirely with Mercedes-Benz technology. Available in four different power versions, the engine is called the Vito 114 CDI with 136 HP (100 kW) power and 330 Nm torque.
There is a Vito 116 CDI with a top level of 163 HP (120 kW) power and 380 Nm torque (Fuel consumption mixed 6.4-5.8 lt / 100 km, CO2 emission mixed 169-156 gr / km). At the top is Vito 119 CDI with 190 HP (140 kW) power and 440 Nm torque (Fuel consumption mixed 6.4-5.8 lt / 100 km, CO2 emission mixed 169-154 gr / km).
In addition, the Vito 124 CDI, the most powerful engine in its class, is offered with the new generation. This engine option produces 239 HP (176 kW) power and 500 Nm torque (fuel consumption mixed 6.4-6.3 l / 100 km, CO2 emissions mixed 168-166 g / km). In addition to the existing 500 Nm, 30 Nm “Overtorque” is activated at the moment of acceleration. The Vito 124 CDI accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds and accelerates to 210 km / h.
All rear-wheel drive Vito versions are offered a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. This transmission replaces the fully automatic unit called 7G-TRONIC. The driver can adjust the shift time by selecting one of the “Comfort” and “Sport” driving modes via the DYNAMIC SELECT selection button. The driver can also manually change gear using the paddles on the steering wheel by selecting the “Manual” mode.
THERE IS “AIRMATIC” IN THE NEW VITO!
AIRMATIC air suspension, which will be offered for the first time in Vito model as of October 2020, adapts itself to road and driving conditions. Thanks to the increased ground clearance, driving comfort is also maintained on undulating road surfaces. The system adjusts itself independently on each wheel depending on the driving and road conditions. This happens extremely quickly thanks to two independent valves, damping and compression.
The driver can select one of three different driving modes via the DYNAMIC SELECT selection button. Raising up to 35 mm in normal driving at speeds of up to 30 km / h, Vito stretches to normal altitude at higher speeds. Maintaining its standard height in comfort mode, Vito lowers by 10 mm to balance consumption as the vehicle accelerates to 110 km / h and above. In Sport driving mode, the Vito decreases 10 mm regardless of vehicle speed.
SAFETY AND DRIVING AID SYSTEMS
With the addition of features such as Active Brake Assist, DISTRONIC and digital interior rear-view mirror, the number of safety and driving assistance systems, previously 10, reaches 13. The Vito’s closed body version is the first commercial vehicle to offer airbags and seatbelt warning for the driver and front passenger as standard.
The new Active Brake Assist detects a possible collision risk with the vehicle in front. The system first warns the driver with a visual and audible warning. If the driver reacts, the system supports the driver with brake support.
Launched for the first time in Vito, DISTRONIC follows the vehicle ahead, maintaining the distance set by the driver.
It also offers the new Vito digital mirror feature to its user. The system transfers the image captured by the HDR camera on the rear window to the interior rearview mirror, which can also be used as a traditional rearview mirror.
The scope of infotainment systems offered at the renewed Vito is also expanding. Digital radio (DAB +) is available in all radio options of the new Vito, including the entry-level Audio 10.
